HikVision facial recognition terminals
Timed receives access-control events from HikVision terminals in the DS-K1T series (and similar MinMoe face terminals) and turns each scan into a clock-in or clock-out automatically.
How it fits together:
- You register each terminal in Timed with its serial number and the location it's at. Every clock record from that terminal is tagged with that location.
- The terminal sends its events to a webhook address that Timed gives you. If the firmware allows it, a secret header lets Timed check the events are genuine.
- With attendance status switched on, staff tap Check In or Check Out before they scan, so each scan is recorded as the right one.
- Each person is enrolled on the terminal with their payroll number from Timed as the employee ID. That's what links a face to the right employee.
You can send a test event from Timed and see each terminal's recent events, so you know scans are arriving. The full steps are in setting up a HikVision terminal.
ZKTeco devices
Timed also connects to ZKTeco devices. You add each ZKTeco source in Timed, link it to a location, and its punches are sent to Timed and matched to employees by payroll or device number.
Timed keeps the raw punches as they arrive, before it updates clock records, so you can see what each device sent and which punches couldn't be matched to an employee.
One attendance record, however people clock in
A biometric terminal at the main gate doesn't have to be the only way in. Timed puts every clock-in in the same place, whether it came from:
- a HikVision or ZKTeco terminal,
- an employee's phone, using the Timed Clock app, or
- a shared branch tablet paired with the site's QR code, where employees enter a PIN.
That suits businesses with a head office terminal and smaller sites, or field staff who never pass a terminal at all. Phone clock-ins can also carry GPS and selfie checks, and doubtful ones are flagged for review. See why facial or GPS validation failed.
What happens after the scan
Biometric clock records go through the same steps as any other clock-in in Timed:
- Late and missing clock-in alerts to the managers of each location. See late clock-in alerts.
- Variance approval when worked hours don't match the shift. See approving variances.
- The attendance report, filterable by employee, location and date, with an Excel download. See the attendance report.
- Payroll: approved hours can be sent to PaySpace. See PaySpace integration.

Frequently asked questions
Does Timed work with ZKTeco devices?
Yes. You add each ZKTeco source in Timed and link it to a location, and its punches are matched to employees by payroll or device number.
Which HikVision terminals does Timed support?
HikVision access-control terminals in the DS-K1T series, such as the DS-K1T341, and similar MinMoe face terminals.
How does a face scan get linked to the right employee?
When you enrol someone on the terminal, you set their employee ID to the same value as their payroll number in Timed. Timed uses that number to find the employee.
Can we use biometric terminals and phone clock-in together?
Yes. Terminal scans, phone clock-ins and branch kiosk clock-ins all end up in the same attendance records and reports.
What if a scan doesn't show up in Timed?
Check the terminal's events in Timed. The most common cause is a payroll number on the device that doesn't exactly match the one in Timed, including leading zeros.
